It is with heavy hearts that we announce
Jeff’s peaceful passing at the Health Sciences Center in St.
John’s, NL, surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his father, Leonard and mother,
Nora.
Leaving to mourn, his wife Jocelyn, sons
Joel (Meghann), Aaron (Julie), his beloved grandchildren, Simon and
Kate and his adored canine companion Maggie, his brothers and sisters,
Gerard (Carolyn), Denise Haley King (Bruce), Valerie
O’Connell (Brendan), Fred (Andrea), and sister in laws Karin
Brown and Janice Wells (Bill MacDonald). "Favorite uncle
"of Chad, Aimee, Beth, Ashley, Ryan, Jeff, Shane, Aidan,
Emily, Patrick, Blair, Heather, Ashley and Kristin. Jeff will also be
greatly missed by a large circle of extended family, especially Eddie
who was his brother in spirit, and many dear friends.
Jeff spent thirty years with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans, most notably with Small Craft Harbours.
His legacy includes his work with small fishing communities
all over Newfoundland and Labrador where he is credited with obtaining
infrastructure and saving decommissioned wharves, in essence often
saving the community. A gold medal wrestler in his
youth, he continued to be an avid sports fan, golfer, and boater and
loved watching his sons on the field. He was a devoted music
enthusiast, and in recent years took up painting. Ever the
entrepreneur, he had plans to sell prints of his
paintings!

Sept 30. A Celebration of Jeff’s Life will be held in
Carnell’s Chapel at 5pm Sat.

Placentia from 6-9 Sunday Oct.
1st. Mass
of Christian Burial at 10:30 am Monday, Oct
2nd at
Sacred Heart Church, Placentia. Interment to follow at a later
date.
