It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Theresa Picco (nee Maher).  Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on September 2, 2019 at the age of 77.

Predeceased by her parents Eileen and John Maher, brother Dan and sister-in-law Anita Maher.

Joan will be dearly missed and honoured by her husband Greg of 47 years; her children Darlene (Glenn) and special grandson Nathan, and Eileen (Lonnie); her step children Rick (Aundrea), and Georgina (Danny) and grandsons Steven and Christopher, Patsy and grandson Michael, Marlene and grandchildren Ashley, Joseph and Troy, and Greg (Tammy) and grandchildren Jacob and Kaity.

She also leaves behind her brothers and sisters to cherish her memory, Pat, Adrian (Mary), Margaret (Thomas), John (Anne), Edward (Elaine), and Eileen (Mike).  Also mourning her loss are many nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends.

Our mom, Joan, was an amazingly kind and compassionate person, who loved to laugh. We always looked forward to her traditional Newfoundland cooking and baking, which she did so well.  How we will miss the special love she shared with each and every one of us.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia.  Visitation to take place on Thursday and Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:30am at Holy Rosary Church in Freshwater.  Interment to follow at the Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery in Southeast Placentia.

Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

To the world, she was one, but to us, she was the world. Rest in peace gentle mother. Until we meet again.
