November 19, 1932 - January 28, 2020

We are so saddened by the loss of our mom, Mary Elizabeth Greene.  Born on November 19, 1932 at Mount Arlington Heights, Long Harbour.

Predeceased by her husband Cecil of 55 years, daughter and baby Kelly, granddaughter Lindsay Rae and step-granddaughter Sheri; parents Maurice and Bride Keating; siblings Pad, her twin, and his son Shawn, Eileen and Anthony (her crib buddy and great friend), and Jack; parents-in-law Joe and Elsie Greene, in-laws Joe (Jr.), Mary Joe their son Derrick, and Gladys Greene, Mary Rose and Bill, Elsie O'Keefe and her son Shawn, Rita and Bob Crowell, Sylvia and Paul Kelly, and Perpetua Collins (Sneck).

Leaving heartbroken with many cherished and loving memories:  her children Barb, Bugs Adrian (Debbie), Maxine (Doug), Mock Maurice (Gail), Inch Donna (Bob), Carolyn (Jim), Porky Colleen (Gerard), Jackie, Michelle, Cec (Jr.), and Noel (Lisa); grandchildren Kerry, Tara, Jaime, Sheldon, Todd, Robyn, Jason, Tim, Stephen, Colin, Devin, Evan, Joseph, Peter, Bridget, Sami, Geoff, Gerald, Marcus, Heidi, Noelle, Emilee, Ryan and step-granddaughter Donna; great-grandchildren Blake Cecil, Jagger, Saidey, Hailey, Zach, Brooke, Alexis, MiKaela, Marley, Jake, Maria, Jayda, Stella, Nora, Richard, Mia, Vaida, Harry, Greta Rae, Peyton, Harriett Mae, and Cassidy Lynn; in-laws Jenny and Beth Keating, Lol (Bill), Art O'Keefe, Marion (Tom), Frank, Pius (Yvonne), and Donna Leonard; as well as special friends Tom and Rosemary Bennett.

Our mom was the best mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, sister-in-law, neighbour and friend, with a kind heart.  She gave so much and did without herself and was so very proud of all her family.  We all meant the world to her. "The more the merrier" for "jiggs" on Sunday.  She called everyone to come and pass it on with two large boilers, stove and oven full of grub.  She did the head count and was right in her glee.  She started shopping for Christmas in January and "gifts for everyone," husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, in-laws, neighbours, friends and many presents for all.

Giving and sharing is what made mom so happy. Her whole life growing up with very little and large family of her own, love and sharing was all she knew.

The loved ones mom lost are in their glee now that she's on her way. "The party is on with lots of music and smiles."

Mom was so afraid of hospitals that we, her children, had to beg and drag her to the ER when she was so sick.  Afraid of having to stay was her fear so we promised her that she would take her last breath in her own home.  We made that wish come true with respect and no regrets.

Many thanks to mom's card, bingo and church buddies, neighbours and friends who helped her so much since Dad's and Kelly's passing. Mowing the lawn, plowing the driveway, bringing her to church, bingo and cards, coming to her home playing music, phone calls, so many kind things she was so grateful for.

A special thank you to her daughter Michelle, who lived at home with her as her primary caregiver.  To Dr. Kirby, Bev Morgan Vokey, doctors, nurses and staff at the Placentia Health Centre, as well as her homecare workers Adele and Jennifer, thanks for your sincere kindness. Mom thought you were the best.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia.  Visitation to take place on Wednesday from 5pm to 9pm, and Thursday from 12pm to 9pm.  Mass of Christian Burial to take place 11am on Friday, January 31st at St. Jerome's Church, Long Harbour.  Interment to follow at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.
