Dermot (Derm) Leonard

1948-2021

 

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dermot (Derm) Leonard announce his peaceful passing on September 7, 2021, at Carbonear Hospital at the age of 72.

Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Kathleen Leonard, his darling infant son, Dermot: parents-in-law, Thomas and Veronica Traverse and lifelong friend, Pad Pearson.

Leaving to mourn with many happy and cherished memories, his wife, Judy; his precious children, Michelle (Calvin) and Gary (Kim); the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Xavier, Jalen and Mackenzie; his sisters and brothers, Iris, Patricia (Steward), Anthony (Chris), Madonna (John), and Joe (Valerie); his nieces and nephews, Eddy, Tina, Trina, Robbie and Lori.

Also leaving to mourn, sisters-in-law, Lizzie (George) Blanche, Ann Drollette, Debra Capshaw, Linda (Jay) Perez, Denise (Tommy) Cline and brother-in-law, Gory Traverse.  Also, special friends, who were like family, Bernadette Bavis, Frances Pearson, Mike and Eileen Murray, and his special wharf buddies who shared his interests and laughed at his colorful language.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia.  Visitation to take place on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.    Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia, on Tuesday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Inurnment at Father Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast, Placentia.

We will miss our beloved husband, Dad, and Grandpa dearly.  Our memories will live in our hearts forever.

With his many voyages now completed he has reached his final port of call.
