It is with heavy hearts and fond memories we announce the passing of Michael J. Ryan, also known as "little mike". Passed away at the Placentia Health Centre on September 11, 2021 at the age of 89.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Hilda Ryan of Petite Forte, sisters Mary Wakeham, Stella Elias, sister-in-laws Mary (Frank Deceased) Leonard and Clarissa Barry Mulloy, brother Anthony Ryan and baby sister Rosemary. Parents-in-law William and Annie Barry. Brother-in-law Fidelis Barry.

Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Marguerite Ryan, the loves of his life, daughters Brenda (Kevin) Jones, and granddaughters Deandra (Carson) and Breanna (Adam). His sisters Anne (Don) Tarrant, Angela (John) Hanrahan, Nellie (Ron Deceased) Boylan, brother Pat (Blanche deceased) Ryan and brother-in-laws James Wakeham, Bill Barry, Jim Barry (Rose Deceased), sister-in-laws Frances (Larry) Foley, Winnie (Ed Deceased) Barry, Mary (Gerald Deceased) Barry, Margaret Ryan, and Florence (Jack Deceased) Barry. Brother-in-law Robert Ellias. Also a large circle of nieces and nephews, friends and special friends Ned Fitzgerald, Pius Ryan (cousin), Jim and Roberta Moore and Laura Kitzke.

Mike was a great provider, hard worker and lived by dignity. The salt of the sea was in his blood, he tried many jobs but fishing was his true calling. He worked on the Naval Base in Argentia, captain of the Morgan Star and was a Jack of all trades, from building his house and boats, also an honorary member of the Star of the Sea Association, Placentia. He suffered many ailments now God has called him home.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Visitation to take place Wednesday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. on a Thursday, September 16th.
