October 1, 1943 to November 9, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved Mother, Margaret Griffin, on November 9, 2021, at the age of 78. She passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father Carmel and Author O’Reilly, her twin sister Carmel and brothers Anthony and Michael (Margie) as well as  her mother and father-in-law Bridget and Edward Griffin, the father of her children Donald Griffin and sister-in-law Terri (Pete Faith).

She will be dearly missed by her children, Yvonne (Darryl Mogridge), Kenneth (Cindy), Rodney (Sheila), brothers, David (Jeannette), Gerard (Barb), Kevin (Diane), Leo (Miranda), brother-in-laws, Matthew (Margaret), Jim (Rita), sister-in-laws, Marion (Max O’Reilly, deceased), Margie (Richard Brown), Rose (Dave Baldwin, deceased), Anita, Madonna (John Judge), Madeline (Jim Redmond, deceased), Grandchildren Justin (Victoria), Jessica (Geoff), Jessica (Matt), Sarah, Zachary, Morgan, Victoria (Zachary) Emily and Great-Grandchildren Ben, Addy, Cole, and Addison as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Thank you from her children to Dr. Stephanie Pomeroy and the nurses at 4 North A who assisted in her comfort in her final days. As well as a special thank you to her brother-in-law and good friend John and Doreen Boudreau and an amazing family friend, Beverly Miller, who was there for her in her final hours.

Anyone who knew Marg, knows she always said it like it was and never cared what others thought of her (as quoted by a beloved niece). She was strong willed and went out on her own terms! We will miss your feisty spirit mom.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in Margaret’s memory.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia, NL. Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will take place at Maher's Funeral Home on Friday, July 21st from 12pm to 2pm, followed by a Graveside Burial Service Holy Rosary Cemetery in Freshwater at 2:30pm.
