Sgt John Joseph "JJ" Howe, CD (Ret’d)

October 17, 1943 - December 11, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of John Howe announce his peaceful passing. At his home in Fox Harbour, NL during the early hours on Saturday December 11th surrounded by family and his best friend, Cooper. 

Predeceased by his Son Cpl. Kirk Healey-Howe, parents Thomas & Jane Howe, Father and Mother in-law Gerald & Teresa Healey, and Brother in-Law, Kenneth Healey. 

Leaving to mourn, his Wife and best friend of 38 years Beth, Daughter Shelley (Cliff), Sons John Jr. (Lisa), Kenneth (Mary), Kristopher (Nicole) and his dog Cooper. Grandchildren who he adored Tyler, Kendra, Justin, Christopher, Kyla, Erica, Brady, Leland and Charlie. And his great grand daughter Layla. Brothers Maurice, Thomas (Lorraine) and Sister Geraldine (Charles) as well as all his cherished brother and sister in-laws of the Healey family and many nieces and nephews. 

Sgt John Joseph "JJ" Howe, CD (Ret’d) served with the Canadian Guards which disbanded into the 3RCR of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1963-1981. His professionalism, dedication and discipline along with his great mentorship towards young soldiers and his many peers never went unnoticed. He carried these attributes with him on his next chapter of his career as the fire inspector at the Argentia Naval Base. 

John was known for his love of music while spending many nights at his camper surrounded by family and friends. Nothing made him happier then having everyone gathered around for a potluck and a dance. 

Visitation will take place at Maher's Funeral Home in Placentia on Monday, December 13th from 12-9pm and on Tuesday at 9am.

Graveside Service to take place 10:30am on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast.

 

John, may you continue to be the sharpest dressed man, with the shiniest shoes, that could make the accordion play like no other. May you and Kirkie make the heavens sing…
