Pomroy, Eddie – Born May 9th, 1934, on Merasheen Island Placentia Bay, decided it was time he went to rejoin his beloved Loretta and his little angel Margaret on May 17th, 2022. Also predeceased by lifelong friend, Dick Ennis.

He is survived and will be sorely missed by his children; Mike (Josie), CBS, Maureen (Billy Pitcher), CBS, Tish, Freshwater, Shirley (Owen) Collins, Auburn NS, Paul (Lynette Murphy), Spread Eagle, Trinity Bay, Jeanette, CBS, Leonard, Conception Harbor, Dennis, Freshwater, Glenda (Duane Hutchings) CBS, Darlene (Martin)  Benoit, Lower Sackville NS; as well as, 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Also leaving to mourn are his brother-in-law George Coleman, Georgia, Joe Casey and wife Bonnie of Stephenville and his special sisters-in-law and Scat "associates," Mary Pomroy of Jerseyside and Annie Ennis of Southeast.

Eddie, the only name he answered to, was an industrious, hard-working man of the sea. His life was spent plying the waters of Placentia Bay in search of the elusive cod to provide for his family. He made many sacrifices including, many days away during the fishing season staying out on Merasheen Island while his family was forced to play the government game back in Freshwater. Eddie instilled in all his children his great love of his island and like him, all came to think of it as their true home as well.

Knowing Eddie, he walked through the Pearly Gates with a deck of cards in one hand, 4 quarters in the other, a little sniff of Golden Wedding hidden in his pocket and yelling to Loretta that it was her deal even though it was likely his. He was a proud son of the bay who was; "Merasheen born by’s and Merasheen bred".

His family wishes to thank the staff at Placentia Hospital and Dr Power for the care provided their father. In no small way they also wish to acknowledge and thank his caregivers over the last few years, Donna Pittman (deceased Feb 22) and Paula White – we will forever be grateful for your care and kindness to Dad.

Visitation will take place from 7-9 pm, Thursday, 19 May 2022 and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 Friday, 20 May 2022. A Catholic Mass will take place at Holy Rosary Church, Freshwater on Saturday, 21 May 2022 at 10:30 a.m.

By request, Cremation has taken place.
