Loretta Lake

14 November 1929 - 09 March 2023

Loretta Lake (Fitzgerald) of Dunville, formerly of St. Anne’s Placentia Bay, passed peacefully away surrounded by her family after a short illness at Placentia Hospital on 09 March 2023 at the age of 93.

Predeceased by: her beloved husband Jerome of 65 years, her precious daughters Madeline, Marilyn, mother Mary (Flynn), father William Fitzgerald, brother’s Nick (Nelly) Fitzgerald, Jack (Floe) Fitzgerald and sister Anastasia (Bill) Leonard.

Leaving to mourn: son’s Jerome (Bridget), Brian (Cindy), Gerard (Laura), Gary (Diane), Peter (Daunel), Randy (Angie), Rodney (Rose) and her devoted daughter Linda; 23 Grand Children and 26 Great Grand Children; last remaining brother in-law Wish Lake and sister in-law’s Hannah Lake and Stella Lake; Large number of nieces, nephews and her close circle of friends.

A special thank you to her primary Care Giver Gladys Snook of 6 years and all Care Givers assigned to her, Physicians and nursing staff of the Placentia Health Care Centre.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Maher’s Funeral Home, 11 Veterans Way, Placentia. Visitation to take place on Friday, March 10th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm.  

Mass of Christian Burial to take place at St. Anne’s Church, Dunville on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30am, with cremation to follow.

Inurnment will be held at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, South East Placentia at 2:00pm on Monday, March 13th. 

 

 

She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children.
Anyone who knew them knew that she was a star in their eyes,
and that’s all that ever mattered to her.
