Eileen Coffey (nee Power) was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, sister, and friend. Surrounded by family, she passed
peacefully away at home after a courageous battle with ALS on May
19th, 2023 at the age of 70.
She was born to Alice and Alan Power on June 30th, 1952,
raised in Branch with a large family of brothers and sisters. As a
beautiful young woman she married Ignatius Coffey in 1971 and together
had 5 beautiful children Stephanie, Andy, Vanessa, Tanya and
Tony.
Eileen loved her children and family first and foremost. She
loved spending time in the kitchen preparing delicious meals and
desserts for not only her family but also for anyone who entered her
home. Her love of her family and her job as a teacher was surpassed
only by her kind and generous nature which she endowed in her own
children. She loved to laugh and had a gift for making those she knew
feel special
and important.
A special thanks to homecare workers who helped fulfill her
wishes to remain at home during her illness and final
days.
A procession will leave Maher’s Funeral Home in
Placentia at 3pm on Sunday, May 21st for a visitation at Sacred Heart
Church in St. Bride’s. Visitation will continue on Monday,
May 22nd, with a prayer service at 7pm. A Mass of Christian
Burial is scheduled for 11am on Tuesday, May 23rd in St.
Bride’s followed by burial in Holy Rosary Cemetery,
Branch.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ALS Society of
Newfoundland on her behalf.
