Kevin Edward Burke (November 19,1954 - April 30, 2014) of Mt.
Arlington Heights, Placentia Bay passed peacefully away surrounded by
family and friends.

his parents Michael & Helen Burke and Great Nephew Devan
Maher. Leaving to mourn his siblings Earl (Carol), Michael, Irving,
Gladys, Eunice (Ray McCarthy), Kathleen (Tom Maher), Mollie (Mike
Dreaddy), and many caring nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A very special family ....The McFadyens ...Paul,
Beverely, Amanda, Nicole and his buddy Gary McCarthy. Kevin
was so blessed to have them in his life. They have been his guardian
angels for the past number of years. His family will be forever
grateful to them for the care and love they have given to Kevin.
Kevin was born with an extra chromosome and 59
years ago doctors didn't give his parents much hope. His mom was told
to take him home and make him comfortable. I guess he proved them
wrong! Kevin has lived a very fulfilling, healthy life
spreading love wherever he went and receiving it in abundance.
Unfortunately, he was struck down with alzheimers 1 1/2 yrs ago and
it's been a steady decline until his death.
He
loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He loved music and dance and
was so fortunate to have the opportunity to be a client for 20 years
at the Perlin Training Centre where he just loved to go everyday. He
always took part in the Lyp Sync Concerts and many other
celebrations. He was a member of the Special
Olympics bowling league and won many medals.
He liked to entertain with his guitar, accordian,
harmonica and played the spoons. He could often be heard in the
neighbourhood playing his guitar and singing his favorite songs.
There are so many stories to be told. Please
join us to celebrate his life story on Saturday, May 3, 1- 9 pm at
Barrett's Funeral Home on Commonwealth Avenue, Mt.
Pearl. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral
Home. Please, no flowers. A donation to the Perlin
Training Centre can be made in his memory.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to be held 5:00pm on
Saturday, September 6th at St. Jerome's Church, Long
Harbour. Inurnment to take place at Long
Harbour Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Long Harbour Parish
Hall. Please come celebrate Kevin's life with his friends
and family.
