Matthew Patrick Collins

August 27, 1989 - June 14, 2024

 

It is with broken hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Matthew Patrick Collins at the age of 34 on June 14, 2024. 

Predeceased by his father, Robbie Collins, his grandparents, Nellie Flynn Leonard, James Flynn, Bert and Vera Collins.

Leaving to mourn with fond memories, his daughter Lydia, mother, Mary, sister, Genny (Steve), grandfather, Joe Leonard, nephews, Andrew and Noel, girlfriend, Rochelle, Lydia's mother Courtney, and a large family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matt also leaves a large number of close friends both in Newfoundland and worldwide. 

Matt was an avid automotive enthusiast. He could spend hours analyzing a problem or rebuilding a car. Most recently, Matt had turned his interests to technology and used his automotive skills to diagnose and repair cars worldwide. He was a passionate gift-giver and took pleasure in finding just the right gift for his friends and family. 

While Matt touched the lives of many his daughter, Lydia was his pride and joy. He loved to include her in his passions and enjoyed nothing more than taking her for a ride on his motorcycle or to shower her with ridiculous gifts. 

Matt worked alongside his mother, Mary, running Matt’s Auto Service and the two of them held a special bond being side by side daily. While they loved to challenge one another he could frequently be heard saying, "mudder, do you want a hug?" He was true a mom’s boy. 

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher's Funeral Home, Placentia.  Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 22nd from 10:00am to 10:00pm, and Sunday, June 23rd from 9:00am to 1:30pm.  Funeral Service to be held at the Star of the Sea Hall on Sunday at 2:00pm.
