In Loving Memory of

Susan Bartlett (nee Welsh)

October 2nd 1957 - January 23rd, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Susan (Sue) Bartlett (nee Welsh) announce her passing on January 23rd at the age of 67 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Left to mourn with a lifetime of cherished moments and memories are her husband Dave of 45 years, children Tanya (Scott), Steven (Susan) and her pride and joy, her beloved grandchildren, Tyson, Lily and Emily. Susan also leaves to mourn her loving sisters & brothers; Brenda (Frank), Eva (Peter), Perry (Bev), Glen (Pauline), Audrey (Barry), Christine, Dean (Bernice); her brothers & sisters in-law John (Phyllis), Albert (Judy), Sharon, Jimmy (Bernice) and Mary (Johnny); as well as, a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.

Susan is predeceased, and reunited in heaven, with her parents Matilda (Tilly) and Enos Welsh, her mother and father in-law Ann and Wilfred Bartlett, her brother in law Gordon Bartlett and nephew Shawn Bartlett.

Susan devoted her life to her husband and caring for her family. She was a creative woman who could "put an arse in a cat." No task was too big or too small to handle, from scrapping picnic tables in Fitzgerald’s Pond Park, to reupholstering furniture and sewing curtains. If she had the will, she found the way to make it happen. Susan was not a woman that was afraid to get her hands dirty, and she didn’t take no for an answer (especially if she thought she was right). She was a familiar face for the past 20+ years at Fitzgerald’s Pond Park, always ready on the rope to check you in, see how your day was and wish you a fond weekend with your loved ones. In the off season she could be found in her warm hat, work clothes most likely with a paint brush or shovel hand. She was a woman who did not fear hard work or dedication.

Susan would often say she was "just a stay at home mom"...mom you were not  "just" a stay at home mom. You were a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. You were our strength, our creativity and our unwavering commitment to others.

The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the amazing team of nurses and doctors at the Placentia Hospital. Special thanks to Dr Siddiqui, Dr. Power, Danielle Power and Andrea Browne. You all are angels on earth, and we are forever grateful for your care and compassion during this difficult time for our family.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 27th from 12pm to 4pm & 6pm to 9pm.  Funeral Service will take place 12:00pm on Tuesday, January 28th at St. Martin's Anglican Church, Dunville, following by inurnment at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery, Southeast Placentia.

Susan, you will be forever missed and forever loved by your family and everyone you encountered along the way. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Martin’s Anglican Church or a charity of your choice.
