Lillian
Budden
April 27, 1948 - May
27, 2026
It is with tremendous sorrow that the family of Lillian
Budden announce her peaceful passing on May 27,
2026.
Lillian Margaret Budden (nee Traverse), aged 78 years, is
predeceased by her parents, Michael & Margaret Traverse,
parents-in-law, Elijah and Lily Reid, sister, Madonna Ryan,
brother-in-law, John Barnett, and sister-in-law, Debbie
Reid.
Leaving to mourn is her devoted and loving husband of 45
years, James, and their children Glenda (Gerry), Sheila (Frank), Mike
(Roxanne), and Juanita (Kris). Lillian also leaves behind her loving
grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, April, Riley and Colin. She loved her
grandchildren deeply and they always brought a smile to her face. Also
grieving her passing are her 7 siblings, Irene, Edward (Jose), Kevin
(Carm), Kay (Berk), Chris (Pats), Linda (Clarence), and Marilyn
(Rick); brothers-in-law Gerard and Kevin; as well as sisters-in-law
Eileen (Gary) and Annie (Wayne).
Also leaving to mourn with fond memories are numerous nieces,
nephews, and a wide circle of friends that Lillian cherished. You know
who you are and how much mom valued the friendships that you created
over the years. Many of these friendships were created in her hometown
of Ferndale, through her involvement in various community groups and
through her favourite pastime, camping.
Lillian was committed to contributing to her community and
was an active volunteer in several organizations. She was a member of
the Star of the Sea Ladies Auxiliary for the last several decades,
volunteering hundreds of hours to this group. She was also a dedicated
member and volunteer of the Freshwater Seniors Club, which was a group
that was near and dear to her heart. Lillian was a firm believer that
you should live life to the fullest and she did just that. From making
memories in her early years at the Traverse family cabin, to enjoying
competitive games of cards, darts and bowling. She was in it to win
it! She also loved animals dearly, especially her special dog
Parker.
For the past six months, as Lillian lived with cancer, she
demonstrated a level of strength and determination to be admired. Even
faced with such a difficult challenge, she continued to inspire us
until the end.
Our entire family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to
the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre, as well as those
at the palliative care unit at the Miller Centre. Their care and
support will always be remembered.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Maher’s Funeral
Home, Placentia. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May
28th from 7pm to 9pm, and Friday, May
29th from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm.

30th at Maher’s Funeral Home,
followed by interment at Dermot McGettigan Memorial Cemetery,
