Leo
Gambin
July 4, 1949
– July 6, 2026
It is with broken hearts that the family of Leo Joseph Gambin
of Ferndale, Placentia announces his sudden passing on July 6,
2026.
Leo’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his
family. He was the kind of man who quietly went about doing good for
others, never seeking recognition, but always willing to lend a
helping hand whenever it was needed. His quiet strength, kindness, and
generous spirit earned him the respect of everyone who had the
privilege of knowing him.
Leo made his living as a dedicated fisherman, embracing the
hard work and challenges of life at sea with determination and pride.
A true craftsman, he was remarkably talented and entirely self-taught.
Whether repairing engines, building a Longliner, constructing a home,
or creating beautiful model boats, there seemed to be nothing Leo
couldn’t build or fix. His craftsmanship will continue to be
admired for years to come.
Blessed with a liver transplant 13 years ago, Leo lived each
day with profound gratitude, always praying for the donor and his
family who’s gift gave him more precious
years.
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts are his beloved wife,
Julia; his treasured daughters, Suzanne and Mary Lynn (David); his
son, Corey (Renée); his treasured granddaughter, Katelyn;
his brothers, Dan (predeceased by wife Cecilia), Cornelius (Madeline),
and John (Anita); his sisters, Winnie (predeceased by husband Ed),
Imelda (Bill), and Veronica (Ron); as well as many nieces, nephews,
extended family members, friends, and neighbours.
Leo was predeceased by his beloved son, Rick; his parents,
Flora and Cornelius Gambin; his sisters, Mary (husband Joe) and
Matilda (predeceased by husband Frank).
