It is with deep sadness that I announce that Donald Porter has passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.

Don was born and raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, and returned years later where he then carried out his last few years. Don was a great father, grandfather, friend and last but not least a great fisherman. Don will be remembered fondly of the times he spent with his daughters and all the adventures they got up to, like camping at Algonquin Park almost every weekend. His grandchildren will remember him as the best papa there ever was, from adventures to quality time spent. Most recently visits to Newfoundland have been the most important and special times in our families lives getting to be in our papa’s native land, learning the history and seeing papa in his element.

Donald Porter will be fondly remembered by Peggy Patrick (Derrick), Sylvia Wood (John) Eric Wood, Brett Wood, Donna Porter, Tammy Patrick, Dj Patrick (Rachel), Heidi Beyore (Blake), Austin Patrick (Meghan), Mason, Mya, Oliver and Madison.

Thank you to all of papa Don’s family members that visited him in Newfoundland in his last days. Those times will forever be remembered, appreciated and cherished.
